We are a community of Christians, open to all, empowered by faith in Jesus Christ to make the Gospel visible by nurturing one another and all whose lives we touch.
We value the rich diversity among God’s people – race, culture, sexual orientation, age, gifts, and abilities – and we welcome all people into our life and ministry.
Since 1996, St. John’s has been a place of welcome for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities and their families, friends and allies. It was in that year that the congregation voted to become a Reconciling in Christ congregation.
Reconciling in Christ is a ministry of Reconciling Works, an organization working within the Lutheran communion, along with its ecumenical and global partners, to embody, inspire, and support the acceptance and full participation of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.
