The Arts at St. John’s is an annual series of concerts and music offerings presented for the artistic enjoyment by St. John’s congregation, community, and surrounding neighborhood. The history of musical concerts at St. John’s can be traced back to the Festivals of Music and Flowers begun in 1949, the establishment of a patron-supported series in the mid 1960s, and the beginning of concerts at noon for the downtown Allentown community in 1991.
Every season is as wonderful and exciting as the one before it, and many look forward to the pilgrimage to the center of downtown Allentown to be amazed by music and its power packaged in the warm and embracing acoustics of an exquisitely soaring Gothic building. Every program is thoughtfully selected to interest, entertain, educate, edify; including international organists, a variety of solo performers, and choral and instrumental ensembles.
Even though we love and enjoy performances and performing, we also call your attention to important services of worship that feature music focused on particular topics such as feast days, saints days, or various liturgical seasonal highlights. We do hope you make your way to 37 South Fifth Street often. And yes, we DO have plenty of parking, even though for the daytime concerts, you might have to look around a bit!
